From uncertain idea to a decision you can act on.
A focused engagement on one product opportunity. We run it with your team: framing the problem, talking to customers, testing the riskiest assumptions together. The conclusion is one your team helped reach, so it holds up in the room afterwards.
When to use it
- A roadmap bet is about to consume a quarter of engineering.
- Two opportunities look equally plausible.
- Your team disagrees about what to build.
- You're being asked to do something with AI, without a clear problem it solves.

Start with what must be true.
Every product idea rests on assumptions. The dangerous ones are not the assumptions you question. They are the assumptions you never name.
A kill-line is the evidence that would make us stop, change direction, or commit. We define it before we start, so momentum cannot override what the evidence says.

What could make this idea fail?
Find the assumption that matters most, usually whether people will value the product enough to use it.

Set the line
What would we need to see?
Decide what real behaviour would count as enough. Interest is easy. Using, paying, or making a real commitment tells us more.
Step 02
Set it before testing
Do we all agree, in advance?
Write the kill-line down before the prototype is tested. Everyone involved agrees on it while the answer is still unknown.
Step 03
Test the assumption
What do people actually do?
Put a prototype in front of real users. Watch what happens and measure it against the kill-line, rather than what people say they might do.
Step 04
Follow the result
What does this mean for the product?
Stop. Change it. Build it. The value of a kill-line is not knowing where to draw it. It is being willing to follow it when the answer is no.
Step 05
Just because you can build it doesn't mean you should.
Speed is only an advantage when you're moving in the right direction.
